General Description
Location. The Cataract Pyramids Resort hotel is located in the Giza district of Cairo, Egypt, surrounded by 20 acres of landscaped gardens and hundred-year-old palm trees. The Pyramids of Giza are 20 kilometres away and both the Egyptian Museum and famous Kahn el Khalili Bazaar are within 10 kilometres of the resort.
Hotel Features. The hotel was designed to reflect the region's historic architecture. It has a 24- hour front desk, currency exchange, gift shop and hair salon. There is a concierge desk and onsite parking (surcharge).

The Cataract Pyramids Resort offers complimentary buffet breakfast in La Galleria restaurant. La Villa restaurant has panelling and murals on its walls, and specialises in Mediterranean cuisine. La Pergola is a more casual restaurant offering local dishes served outdoors. El Nino bar serves a selection of cocktails. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

A business centre, meeting and conference rooms, and secretarial services are all available.

The Cataract Pyramids Resort has a fully-equipped gym, with steam room and sauna. There is an outdoor pool and squash and tennis courts. Volleyball can be played onsite and there is a golf course nearby.

Guestrooms. Decorated with contemporary furniture and richly-coloured fabrics, the 398 climate- controlled guestrooms all have minibars, satellite television, high-speed Internet connections and safes. All rooms have balconies or terraces overlooking the gardens and pool. Bathrooms have hair dryers, bathrobes and complimentary toiletries.

The Cataract Pyramids Resort is located within the beautiful panorama of the great pyramids, surrounded by farms and greenery and at the same time central.

Exterior
The hotel is a low-rise building spreading over a large area of landscaped gardens.

Lobby
The lobby is housed in a separate building at the front of the hotel. It is large in size with grey marble flooring and walls. It consists of a reception desk, coffee shop, bank, piano and a central seating area.

There are three room types, Oasis, Pavilion and Executive. The Oasis rooms are located in the main buildings surrounding the swimming pool, and are decorated in light pastel colours with light brown marble flooring. They have large nicely furnished bathrooms and large balconies. The Pavilion and Executive rooms are based on the ground floor with similar decor to the Oasis rooms.

At the Cataract Pyramids Resort experience local cuisine at the outdoor restaurant La Pergola or try the A la Carte restaurant La Villa which serves classical favourites. There is also the Dome Cafe which serves French pastries, soft drinks and hot drinks. There is also the lively discotheque El Nino where you can dance your night away. Get yourself fresh juices and fancy drinks at the Oasis Pool bar or try out the Sakkara Pub for a beer or two.

Recreation
The resort offers the towns largest swimming pool. There is a gym and if you really want to relax there is a sauna, steam bath and massage with aromatherapy included. There are also tennis and squash courts. for children there is a childrens pool, playground, mini club with hourly care and programmes for children between the ages of 4-12. Baby sitting is at extra charge. Nearby activities include a golf course, camel and horse riding and Jeep safari. There are also orienta bazzars, mosques, museums and the Cairo Citadel.

From Cairo International Airport (CAI):
Distance to the Cataract Pyramids Resort is 20 kilometres, approximately 35 minutes' drive.

Getting there. Taxis for central Cairo can be found in front of the Arrivals hall. The fare should be negotiated prior to departure, and should cost around 70 EGP-80 EGP. Buses run between the airport and central Cairo, and airport bus services run from Terminal 1 (Old Airport). The number 400 bus leaves about every 30 minutes throughout the day, and hourly at night. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Cataract Pyramids Resort is in Giza, in the west of Cairo. The cheap and reliable metro system is the best way to explore Cairo. Minibuses and buses are a common form of transport, however, taxis are a good alternative. A river bus travels down the Nile from Cairo. Boats leave regularly for the University. Every other boat continues on to Rhoda, Manial, Masr al Qadima (old Cairo), and Giza. Driving is not advised for visitors, due to congestion in the city.
