West End has long been the pulsating heart of the island: here are more than half-a-dozen highly professional scuba diving operations, some of them with more than a decade of experience. Here, too, most of Roatan's bars, restaurants and night-life are concentrated along a sandy "strip" that stretches a mile west from Half Moon Bay along the shore towards West Bay.



Eco-friendly Cocolobo is ideally located just a couple of minutes walk from idyllic Half Moon Bay and the nearest restaurants and dive shops. Yet you'll hear no noise from the merry-makers along the strip - only the murmur of the sea or the occasional crash of the waves on the coral "iron-shore". To the front, guests enjoy uninterrupted views over the coral garden and wooden walkways that lead down to the Caribbean. Take a dip in the infinity pool, enjoy a cold drink on the deck or swim and snorkel off the property itself. Later, relax in our shady semi-tropical gardens or gaze at the ever-changing ocean from your own balcony.

Cocolobo has nine spacious guest bedrooms. Choose between a king-size bed or two 4ft 6ins beds. Some rooms can accommodate a third person.

Given the wide variety of excellent local and international cuisine within a few minutes walk, there is no restaurant at Cocolobo. The closest eating places, less than a minute away, specialize in local fish: enjoy coconut shrimp or freshly-caught grouper overlooking the tranquil bay waters.

A couple of minutes further on gives you a wide variety ranging from an excellent Argentine grill opposite the beach, or a highly-regarded Indian restaurant. Then, sauntering round the bay, you will find an array of fusion cuisine (local fish with Thai spices), vegetarian, Mexican, Vietnamese, pasta as well as hamburgers, ribs and more. And that's just in West End!

If you want to go further afield, take a cab the few minutes to West Bay or to French Harbour, the island's second town, which also has a couple of excellent eating places.
