General Description
Location. The villa-style Splendide Royal - A Summit Hotel is located opposite the Villa Borghese gardens in Rome, Italy. The hotel is one block from Rome's elegant street, Via Veneto, and within one kilometre of the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona. The nearest metro stop is Barberini.
Hotel Features. Modelled on a 17th-century Renaissance villa, the Splendide Royal - A Summit Hotel is set in a building dating back to 1880. The ornate lobby features marble flooring and antique artwork, and its chandelier featured in the 1963 film, Il Gattopardo (The Leopard).

The rooftop Mirabelle restaurant offers Michelin-starred cuisine, panoramic city views and alfresco terrace dining overlooking Villa Borghese. Specialities include terrine di foie gras and a signature chocolate dessert, Settimo Cielo (seventh heaven). Reservations and formal dress are required. The Splendide Royal hotel also offers a complimentary breakfast buffet and room service.

The hotel has conference rooms, business centre and wireless Internet access throughout (surcharge).

The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service and there is a fitness centre on the fourth floor.

Guestrooms. The Splendide Royal - A Summit Hotel's 68 climate-controlled, guestrooms are furnished with Persian rugs and floral bedding modelled on the Vatican City's Swiss Guard colours. The Renaissance-inspired rooms all have courtyard or city views, soundproofing, wireless Internet access (surcharge), remote-controlled curtains and lighting, minibars and satellite television. In-room massages are available (surcharge may apply). Dual-sink Carrara marble bathrooms feature telephones, bathrobes and slippers.

Expert Tip. Until 2000, Rome's Splendide Royal - A Summit Hotel was a Maronite convent. The complex still contains a church and cloister which remain under Maronite ownership.

This is a beautiful historical 7 floored light cream building built in 1880.

Lobby
A big revolving door leads to the reception area, small sized. The lobby is small but tastefully decorated and furnished in anelegant style. It is enriched by a huge and impressive 'Murano' chandelier, a cream coloured sofa, few other pieces of furniture which dominate the whole lobby, giving to the area a stylish and welcoming look, and old pictures.

The rooms are characterised by the luxury and spaciousness reminiscent of the elegant boudoirs of the aristocracy, featuring sumptuous Baroque style decors and nuances; boiseries, fine draperies and antique furniture all creating an exclusive yet warmly welcoming atmosphere.
Nearly all of the rooms have large marble bathrooms with precious natural light source and have large terraces with sweeping views over the city and the gardens of Villa Borghese.


Double Room Superior - Double Rooms Superior are luxuriously furnished, with all modern amenities. Set between the first and the sixth floor, these rooms overlook the peaceful internal courtyard of the hotel. Rooms are 25m² to 30m² in size, and are fitted with king or queen size beds (double or twin beds). Each room also has an ample marble bathroom, some with natural light. Please note that extra beds cannot be added.

Double Room Deluxe - Double Rooms Deluxe are luxuriously furnished, with all modern amenities. Set between the second and the sixth floor, most of these rooms overlook Villa Borghese. Rooms on the higher floors boast marvellous views of the city, while rooms overlooking the peaceful internal courtyard of the hotel are more spacious. Rooms are 30m² to 35m² in size, and are fitted with king or queen size beds (double or twin beds). Each room also has an ample marble bathroom with bathtub, some with a separate shower.

Junior Suite - Junior Suites are located on the 4th and 5th floor, with sizes of 40m² or larger. All have sitting area, large LCD TV and DVD, some offer large terraces (fitted with lawn chairs) facing Villa Borghese. Junior Suites with terrace are available on request at an additional cost. All marble bathrooms include Jacuzzi and separate shower cabin.

Suite - Senior Suites have separate sitting rooms, marble bathrooms with Jacuzzi and chromotherapy. They are at least 38m² in size. Some Suites have large terraces (on request and at an additional cost) and feature large LCD TV, DVD and lawn chairs.

With it's reputation for exclusivity and excellence, awarded with a Michelin star, the Splendide Royal boasts one of the most elegant "gourmet terraces" in Rome. The Mirabelle, an exclusive meeting point among the Italian and International "Bel Mondo", is considered to be among the very best restaurants in the city, directed with the class and undisputed professionalism of Bruno Borghesi.
The restaurant is located on the hotel's 7th floor, where huge glass terrace doors open out onto a view of breathtaking beauty: a panorama which sweeps across the city from the 19th century palaces of Pinciano, Villa Medici, Trinità dei Monti all the way to Saint Peter's and to the Gianicolo. Eyes but also taste buds are rewarded during what is an undeniably unique dining experience, thanks to the culinary skills of Giuseppe Sestito, Executive Chef, whose talents have been refined in various occasions spent working in prestigious establishments abroad.

From Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO):
Distance to Splendide Royal - A Summit Hotel is 30 kilometres, approximately 45 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The Leonardo Express runs between the airport and the Termini train station in the city centre every 30 minutes. The journey time is about 35 minutes and single tickets cost 9.50 EUR. The Terravision shuttle bus runs between the airport and Termini station. From here, guests can take a taxi or the Metro subway to Barberini station, the hotel's closest metro stop. Airport taxis to the city centre cost about 60 EUR, and taking a metered licensed taxi is advised. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. The Splendide Royal hotel is located opposite the Villa Borghese gardens in central Rome. Rome's historic city centre is easy to explore on foot, as many attractions are located close together. The city has an efficient public transport system, including trams, buses, suburban trains, and metro (underground). Tickets can be purchased from tobacconists and ATAC ticket machines, and should be bought prior to boarding. Single tickets cost 1 EUR, and are valid for 75 minutes, covering one metro trip and unlimited bus travel. Driving in the city centre is not advised for visitors. Valet parking is available at the hotel (surcharge).
