Sprawled across 1500 acres of glorious Umbrian countryside, midway between Florence and Rome, Le Torri di Bagnara surveys a sweep of the Tiber Valley, dotted with castles and hilltop villages.

A former 11th century abbey complete with medieval towers, Le Torri di Bagnara is actually a collection of historic residences, castles and woodland complete with lakes and a natural reserve. Perched high in the Umbrian hills not far from Perugia and many of the area’s historic gems, this peaceful estate makes a tailor-made base for a stay in central Italy.

Make yourselves at home in one of the luxury 11th century Abbey’s relais seven rooms encircling a courtyard, or choose from one of our four luxury apartments set in a 11th century Tower just up the hill. All have been beautifully restored. Furnished with antiques and elegant fabrics, rooms come with every modern comfort. Some have barrel vaulted ceilings, terracotta floors, working fireplaces and Romanesque windows, in addition to satellite TV, air conditioning, rain showers, WIFI, whirlpool baths and plenty of fluffy towels. All enjoy sweeping views of the Umbrian countryside.

Outside, you’ll find panoramic terraces, gardens rich in flowers, fruit and fig trees, and an infinity salt water pool with fantastic hillside views that catches the rays from dawn to dusk. There’s a reading room packed with books, and even a church perfect for tying the knot should the fancy take you. Mountain bikes, cooking classes, truffle hunt, wine and olive oil tasting, and many additional activities are available on request.

Le Torri di Bagnara’s huge estate is criss-crossed with walking and biking trails, woods for berry-picking, a sprinkling of lakes and a farm where olives, honey and orchard-grown fruit and vegetables are harvested. “Chianina” cattle, chicken and goose are reared on the farm, while wild boar, roe deer and partridge roam in the woods.

Our hearty Umbrian cuisine wins plenty of plaudits from our Guests, and evenings start with drinks on the terrace, with its vistas of ancient Italy. You’ll be well looked after by the warmth and hospitality of the owners - descendants of emperor Napoleon 1st - and our friendly team.

A great stopover between Roma and Florence, Le Torri di Bagnara also makes a great base for exploring Umbria - often hailed as Tuscany without the crowds.

Le Torri di Bagnara offers 2 accommodation types. You can either stay in one of the 7 luxury rooms within the Abbey section of the property, or take an apartment in the Tower.

In the Abbey, there are four double rooms and three Junior suites that overlook the gardens, the swimming-pool and the Tiber valley:

Primrose (classic double room): it is on the ground mezzanine floor and has two windows that overlook the Tiber valley and the gardens. It has a queen size double bed, on the side of which, in the wall, there is an ancient medieval stone loophole through which one can see the garden. The bathroom has all the services including a tub, a hand shower and a rain shower, hairdryer. The ceilings of the room and the bathroom are wooden-beam ones.

Periwinkle (Jr.suite, sleeps 2): it’s located on the ground mezzanine floor and consists of entrance, large wardrobe, spacious bathroom and bedroom. It may feature a double queen size bed or two single beds with semi canopy, and has two windows that overlook the Tiber valley and the garden; in the wall of room there is also an ancient medieval stone arch formerly used for entering by horse, through which one can see the garden and the valley. The bathroom is large and equipped with all the services; in particular, it has a white marble double bathtub fitted in an ancient medieval white stone arch, with a hand shower and a rain shower. The ceilings of the bedroom and the bathroom are wooden-beam ones.

Tulip (superior double room - with whirlpool bathtub): it’s located on the first floor and has two windows that overlook the inside court, the gardens and the swimming-pool. It may feature a double queen size bed or two single beds with semi canopy. The bathroom is spacious and equipped with all the services, including a whirlpool bathtub, a hand shower and a rain shower, and hairdryer.

Peony (Jr.suite, sleeps 2 - with whirlpool bathtub): it’s located on the first floor and consists of entrance, wardrobe, large bathroom and bedroom. The bedroom has a double queen size bed with semi canopy, and two windows that overlook the Tiber valley, the garden and the Church. The bathroom is spacious and equipped with all the services, including a whirlpool bathtub, a hand shower and a rain shower, hairdryer.

Geranium (superior double room): it’s located on the first floor and has two windows that overlook the Tiber valley, the gardens and the swimming-pool. It may feature a double queen size bed or two single beds. The bathroom is spacious and equipped with all the services including a tub, a hand shower and a rain shower, hairdryer.
On the first floor of the Abbey’s Sacristy are located a Double room and the 3 beds Jr suite; they have independent entrance and for this reason are suitable for a family or a group of 5 people. Their windows overlook the court and the gardens, and they are entered through an external stone staircase:

7Flowers (Jr.suite, sleeps 3): it's located on the first floor of the Sacristy and consists of entrance, wardrobe, bathroom and large bedroom. The bedroom has a Queen Size double bed + a single bed, and two windows that overlook the court, the swimming-pool garden and the Tower. The bathroom is equipped with all the services including a tub, a hand shower and a rain shower, hairdryer. The ceilings of the bedroom and the bathroom are wooden-beam ones.

Myosotis (classic double room): it’s located on the first floor of the Sacristy. It has a double bed or two single beds and two windows that overlook the court and the swimming-pool garden. The bathroom is equipped with all the services including a tub, a hand shower and a rain shower, hairdryer. The ceilings of the bedroom and the bathroom are wooden-beam ones.

The JOKER is a 25 sqm elegant apartment on the stilted ground floor, with entrance from the Tower’s front square: it features living room with kitchen corner and small double bedroom; the bathroom is equipped with all the sanitary ware, included the shower, and has a window.

Furnished with antiques and elegant fabrics, it features independent heating system, dish-washer, colored satellite TV, telephone, WIFI internet connection, hair-drier, safe box, terracotta floor and wood beams; it has plenty of fluffy towels including swim towels, fine bed and household linen, cutlery, crockery and kitchenware, and parking space in the car port.

It is full of light and enjoys sweeping views of the Umbrian countryside through its 7 windows.

An additional separate single bedroom and bathroom on the 1st floor of the Tower can be made available for a group of 3 people.

The LADY is a three-roomed apartment (57 sqm), located on the first floor of the Tower.

It features two double bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room with fireplace and full kitchen with a table inside.

One bedroom may feature a king size bed or 2 twin beds; it is in the part of the tower where they used to open the drawbridge and has stone walls and barrel vault ceilings; the other bedroom may feature a king size bed or 2 twin beds, and has wood beams. Living room, kitchen and bathroom have wood beams also.
The bathroom - that is accessed through a stair - has a window and is equipped with all the sanitary ware, included a small tub and a hand shower.

Furnished with 19th century antiques and elegant fabrics, The Lady features independent heating system, colored satellite TV, telephone, WIFI, dish-washer, hair-drier and safe box; it has plenty of fluffy towels including swim towels, fine bed and household linen, cutlery, crockery and kitchenware, and parking space in the car port.

It is full of light and enjoys sweeping views of the Tiber valley.

An additional single bedroom and bathroom adjacent to The LADY can be made available for a group of 5 people.

The VASSAL is a three-roomed apartment (69 sqm), on the stilted ground floor of the Tower.

It features two double bedrooms, a living room with fireplace, one bathroom, and a large full kitchen with a table inside.

One bedroom can have a double king size bed or 2 twin beds; the second bedroom has a small double bed + a single bed, were 3 people can comfortably sleep. It features old stone walls, stone arches that separate the rooms, and original terracotta floors. All rooms have exposed wood beams; original fireplace is very large.
The bathroom is equipped with all the sanitary ware, included a tub and a hand shower, and has a window.

Furnished with 19th century antiques and elegant fabrics, it features independent heating system, colored satellite TV, telephone, WIFI, dish-washer, hair-drier and safe box; it has plenty of fluffy towels including swim towels, fine bed and household linen, cutlery, crockery and kitchenware, and parking space in the car port.

THE KNIGHT is a beautiful three-roomed apartment (81 sqm), with entrance on the second floor of the Tower.

It features entrance, a large dining room with full cooking surface, living room, one bathroom and two double bedrooms (one with queen size bed, the other with queen size or 2 twin beds), that are located inside the Tower at the third and fourth floor, accessed up a flight wooden stairs.
The bathroom is equipped with all the sanitary ware, included a shower.

The main feature of this apartment is the position of the bedrooms inside the Tower, the stone walls, the arched Romanesque windows, the barrel vault ceiling with frescoes. There are many exposed wood beams in the apartment and tall ceilings.

The Knight is full of light and has a wonderful view over the Tiber Valley and the surrounding woods. The living room has views from five windows so there is a great deal of light.

An additional separate single bedroom and bathroom on the 1st floor of the Tower can be made available for a group of 5 people.

Between the TOWER and the PARISH CHURCH, is a large private SWIMMING POOL (about 120 sqm), having the shape of a fan and featuring a cascade for the water recycling - that makes a relaxing sound - and a broad wooden shelter.

It is inside a large garden (5.000 sqm), embroidered by flowers (roses, santoline, perovskia, and thyme) pomegranate and cherry trees, with cratecus, laurel, rosemary and lavender bushes, oak and olive trees, created by a landscape architect so that it is continuously in flower from spring to autumn. At the base of each olive tree there are lamps that can be lit to create a fabulous atmosphere for parties or other events.

Thanks to its position, it is sunny from dawn to dusk and looks over the enchanting Tiber Northern Valley, mount Subasio and Assisi on its foot.

The guests can use pool umbrellas, chairs, tables, deckchairs, bath-towels, warm and cold shower; the large broad wooden shelter, surrounded by jasmines and roses, is at their disposal for having lunch.

The swimming pool is open from half May to half October.

Around the TORRE, there is a large terraced garden (1.000 sqm) embroidered by bushes of lavender and broom, fig and peach trees, and a large laurel bush (about 5 m high). Bordering the garden you will find bushes of laurel, cistus, dog rose and rosemary.

Every morning - from 8:30 to 10:30 am - a Super Continental Buffet Breakfast is served at Pieve San Quirico Abbey.
On Summer, you may enjoy it seating in the beautiful Abbey courtyard surrounded by lemon trees.

Dine at the Abbey Restaurant and enjoy exquisite dishes typical of the Umbrian cuisine, all prepared with great attention to detail, the finest local ingredients and a memorable array of flavors.

Try our home made Tagliatelle pasta with Porcini Mushrooms, or our Artichoke Lasagna with Mint Pesto, or the world famous Chianina veal in a variety of preparations – it has been raised in our breeding !

Menu changes with the season and always includes home-made pasta, bread and cakes, fresh vegetables from our kitchen garden and meats from our breedings. All food is local, made to order and cooked or dressed with our extra virgin olive oil.

Inside, you can dine in the cozy atmosphere of an 11th century Abbey, surrounded by stone walls, flowers, tapestry, table cloths, and candles. In Summer, you can dine in the beautiful candle lighted courtyard surrounded by lemon trees, and evenings start with drinks on the terrace, with its vistas of ancient Italy.

Le Torri di Bagnara can be easily reached from the main roads cause it is 4 km far from the E45 freeway (Orte-Ravenna, exit “Resina”), which is directly connected to the A1 motorway (Roma-Firenze) and A14 motorway (Bologna-Bari).
Perugia is just 15 min. drive; Assisi, Gubbio, Trasimeno lake, Todi are within 30 min. drive.
Rome, Florence, Ravenna and Boulogne are within 2 hours drive.
The international airport of Perugia-Sant’Egidio is only 21 km far – many international flights available.
