Luxury Hotel Accommodation
Although Rĝisheim is about as far from a modern hotel cmplex as you can possibly come, our food and service is of superior quality. Waking up form a good night ' s sleep, you may step outside, fill your longues with crisp mountain air , and feel the tranquil presence of nature. Who needs a telephone or television in such surroundings? At Rĝisheim, you stay in one of 24 guest rooms located in old farm cabins. Most of the 14 buildings that constitute the hotel have origins dating back to the 18th century, and the oldest bulding dates all the way back to the 16th century. A profound respect for tradition formed basis for the renovation process, creating a unique environment and atmosphere that still manages to provide a sense of comfort and luxury. After 150 years, hospitality remains the number one motivation at Rĝisheim, and we maintain a reputation as one of Norway ' s most distinguished and intimate hotels. Rĝisheim is really a traditional Gudbrandsdal valley two-courtyard farm. At one time, it was one of the largest farms in the valley, with 40 employees, and the largest milk supplier in the northern part of the valley. Rĝisheim was designated a coaching inn in 1858 and was declared a national monument in 1923, not only because of the buildings and the completely intact courtyard, but also due to its setting, which is of particular cultural importance.
