Hotel Rialto presents a journey from Art Nouveau to Art Déco.
20th century art was the search for new forms, meanings and definitions, an attempt to break from the 19th century tradition of copying and repeating the styles of the past. One hundred years ago the French Art Nouveau and the Austrian secezzion declared a breaking from the eclectic compilations of the past. This had the most powerful impact on the applied arts. They strove to create beautiful objects of the applied arts, with no compromise for cheap popularity and inferior quality. As a result some of the objects created 100 years ago survived through the decline of the Art Nouveau style and carried some of the newly defined values into the new époque - Art Déco.
A visit to our hotel will offer you a journey through the design arts of the beginning of the 20th century. Every single room has been designed in its very own unique style. Each one has been furnished with authentic pieces of furniture of the period 1900 - 1930. They are complemented with others, newly designed in the same period style, with every finishing detail selected with the utmost care to reflect the period character. The manufacturers producing the same, unchanged models and designs for the past one hundred years have supplied the period light fixtures. The upholstery was selected based on the preserved original samples of the period. Everything was manufactured by the best craftsmen in their field, using the highest quality materials - precious woods, stone, glass mosaics and nickel-plated brass.
