Hotel Description
Cliveden is unique. The setting, architecture and interiors all speak eloquently of extraordinary extravagance and remarkable refinement. But that's not all. There is a palpable sense of history, for this is a house that for over 300 years has been dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure, power and politics.

Cliveden is set amid 376 acres of magnificent formal gardens and parklands, yet is conveniently located near to London and London Heathrow Airport. Standing upon chalk cliffs that give the estate its name, the house commands panoramic views over the beautiful Berkshire countryside and an idyllic bend in the river Thames.

The interior of the house does nothing to disappoint the sense of anticipation created by the stately drive and imposing faade. As the uniformed footmen usher you into the Great Hall, you are overawed by the expanse of space and the profusion of detail.
Luxury Hotel Accommodation
An invitation to stay at Cliveden was seldom refused in Lady Astor's day - not least because the bedrooms were so luxuriously appointed and the staff so attentive. The standards she set are still rigorously maintained today.

You can be certain of a beautiful room filled with exquisite furnishings and priceless antiques. As you enter you are welcomed with muted music, the scent of freshly cut flowers and, if it is winter, a crackling log fire. With more than four members of staff per bedroom you are assured of flawless service offered with care, courtesy and enthusiasm. It's an experience so unforgettable that guests return time and again.

Each of the rooms is named after a prominent guest or figure from Cliveden's past, and furnished accordingly. The Langhorne Room is named in the memory of Nancy Astor's family. The Canning Room celebrates this remarkable orator and politician who became Prime Minister in 1827. The Sutherland Room with original furniture commissioned by the Duke of Sutherland. The Lady Astor Suite, Lady Astor's bedroom, pictured, now offers guests one of the very grandest suites in the world.

Other rooms and suites commemorate the famous and the infamous, all of whom have stayed at Cliveden.

Whatever room you choose you'll not only be extremely comfortable but will find yourself surrounded by a wealth of historical associations that make your stay truly remarkablethen there's always Spring Cottage.
Location
By road

40 minutes from central London. Take the M40 Junction 2, or M4 Junction 7.

Direction from M4/A4

If coming from M4 Junction 7, turn left at the roundabout onto the A4 towards Maidenhead. Go straight at the traffic lights and turn right at the roundabout (Sainsburys Supermarket) onto Lent Rise Road.

Continue straight over all mini-roundabouts. You will pass Burnham Memorial Cricket Ground on your right and Grovefield House on your left.

At the T-Junction, the main gates of Cliveden are directly opposite. Follow the gravel drive all the way to the House, following the signs for House Guests.

If travelling along the A4 from Maidenhead follow this road towards Slough and take the left hand turn onto Berry Hill, before the BMW garage, following signs towards Cliveden. Take this road for approx 3miles until you reach the main gates for Cliveden on your left hand side.

Directions from M40

Exit M40 at junction 2, at the roundabout get in the right hand lane and follow the A355 to Slough. After 150 yards turn right, which will take you past the Jolly Woodman public house, turn right into Woburn Common Road, and then left onto Heathfield Road. Cliveden is two miles from there.

N.B. In the event that the main gates are closed, please turn right at the T-Junction onto Cliveden Road and take the first left onto Bourne End Road. Continue on this road for approximately 300 metres and an alternative entrance to Cliveden House, Hedsor Gate, is on the left hand side.
