Hotel Description
Hidden away in the midst of the idyllic wooded hills of the Perche, the Chteau de la Barre progressively unfolds its history. For centuries, its parkland has protected it from all noise and disturbance, and it now emerges as a historical haven.

Although, having born witness to the Hundred Years War, the Religion Wars, and the vicissitudes of the French Revolution, it could tell countless tales, it delights most in joyfully extolling a preserved way of life.

Today, the Count and Countess de Vanssay, the twentieth generation of the family, in the same location, open up their abode to you; an abode where the rooms amalgamate both elegance and authenticity on the one hand, and comfort and modernity on the other. The living rooms, adorned with portraits of various family ancestors, rival with elegance, and almost eloquence, the great Dining Room, a veritable chef d'oeuvre of the 18th century, complete with the monumental dresser and exquisite china collection

Luxury Hotel Accommodation
Chambre Marin de Vanssay
Like a lost paradise, elegance and vastness. Marin de Vanssay, the husband of the great grand-daughter of the builders of the castle of Chenonceaux aimed to create this wing of the chteau as an edifice to his prestige. Facing the imposing century-old oak closet, an important XVIIth century Florentine mirror towers over a magnificient XVIIIth century French Rgence commode. The sombre gilden and damassed tapestries will englobe you as you sleep, never to disclose the secrets of the wonderful dreams to be had here.

Chambre Bleue
Elevation, imbued by both the rigidity and lightness of French Classicism. Standing in the fresh country air on the balcony, a splendid view extends beneath you, as the sheep amble like snowflakes in the valley. In the room itself, the oil paintings complement the XVIIth century walls: "here where everything is but order and beauty, calm luxury and voluptousness."

Suite Esprit de Jouy
French craftsmanship. The 'toile de Jouy', created in France during the 'Sicle des Lumires', has since become famous throughout the world. This bucolic dcor has come down to us from the days when the queen identified with the pastoral. One red, the other blue, these two adjoining rooms are prestigious remnants of the art of French life of bygone times. You may sleep in an authentic Louis XVI bed.

Chambre Jaune
Is it the sight of the magnificient terrace basking in the sunlight, which one sees from the window, or the golden wall fabric with antique furniture which make this radiant room the most popular amongst our guests? Let your eyes follow the meandering stream on its slumbersome path to the borders of the Loire, still far from the sands of the Atlantic Ocean.

Suite aux Fleurs
Built during the dark ages of the Hundred Years War, the compact and uneven walls have finally surrendered to the power of exuberant flowers. The stern watchwalk with its deep arrowslots has been transformed into an Italian marble bathroom with sprouting jets. In the other room, Napoleonic glory is at ease with the scarlet fabrics leaving it up to the guests to meditate on the glory of men and God while contemplating the chapel overlooking the defensive walls.
