Casa Liza is a 17th century colonial estate located in the historical center of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. José Mojica, a famous Mexican actor and opera singer lived in this house during the church/state crisis of the 1920's. In those days of persecution, communion was served through a small window in the entry hall of the main house in order to protect the occupants.

Designer Liza Kisber purchased this property in the late eighties with the vision of turning it into the most distinctive guest house in San Miguel. Her dream has become a reality. Casa de Liza is much more than just a bed and breakfast.

Each luxury suite provides an elegant and private space, most with their own kitchen facilities, each uniquely inspired. They have been designed to provide the most luxurious and romantic of settings for your stay in San Miguel and have often been featured in books and magazines.

Original paintings and sculptures, many by Liza's mother Charlotte, Annemarie Slipper and Rita Torlen, fountains, fireplaces and furniture by internationally recognized artists such as Pedro Friedeberg, Marion Perlet, Gary and Annemarie Slipper, Keith Miller and Rita Torlen are perfectly selected to provide interest and beauty to every segment of the property. Color schemes are rich but restful. Miles of hand-painted 'talavera' tiles decorate the baths and kitchens. Hand embroidered duvet coverlets and kilims abound. No detail has been left unattended.

For your convenience, all of our suites have private telephones (laptops welcome), cable television, and clock radios.

Casa Liza has many friendly animals, including kittens, a dog and two bi-lingual parrots which you will find very entertaining.
