Hotel Description
Live the James Bond lifestyle (the relaxed bits, that is): Ian Fleming first conceived 007 here in the simple three-bedroomed house set on a bluff overlooking a small private cove that he had built in the 1940s. In the master bedroom with its views of the sea would-be authors can seek inspiration at Fleming's writing desk, made from Jamaican blue mahoe, where he wrote fourteen of the thrillers. You may prefer a long think in the clawfoot tub set amongst rocks that is one of the three garden baths. To add to the relaxing atmosphere there are batik fabrics on Indonesian bamboo couches and four-poster beds, where you can dream of previous visitors - Errol Flynn, Elizabeth Taylor, Cecil Beaton and Noel Coward were all here. And just in case you want to remind yourself of the movies, adjoining the house is a media room with a wide projection screen. If you want to bring friends or family, in the fifteen acres of Goldeneye's grounds are four more villas. The one-bedroomed Honey Chile (remember Ursula Andress in Dr. No - how could you forget?) adjoins the small cove, making it the natural choice for guests to use in conjunction with the main house. There is also a two-story stone and wood villa facing Low Cay Beach and a separate colourful cluster of cottages set amidst shade trees on the cliff edge. There are garden baths, a restaurant serving the best of fresh fish and Jamaican cooking, water sports and a tennis court - so all you have to think about is your next thriller.
