| Hotel Description The Beech Hill occupies a prime position on the eastern bank of Lake Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Inspiring and dramatic, the constantly changing mood of the mountains is always reflected in the water of Windermere, Britain's largest lake.
The Hotel has 3 Stars and 2 AA Rosettes for good food.
Whatever the season, the vista surrounding the hotel is always beautiful to look at and the glorious countryside a joy to roam in. There is plenty to see and do for all ages, on water as well as on land. Landscaped gardens extend down to a private beach area and jetty where it is possible to "take tea" by the lakeside in the summertime.
Pleasure and relaxation are just two great reasons to take a short break and experience a warm Cumbrian welcome extended by the friendly team of staff at The Beech Hill.
Luxury Hotel Accommodation The Premier and Select bedrooms at The Beech Hill hotel are spacious and comfortably furnished, many being equipped with spa baths, walk-in showers and terraces. All offer beautiful views out over Lake Windermere. The Wordsworth Suite provides the ultimate in luxury with a 7 foot antique bed, plasma screen TV, electronically controlled curtains, luxury bathroom, private access to the hotel's indoor pool and its own outdoor hot tub on a private terrace.
The hotel's restaurant has held 2 AA Rosettes for a number of years and Chef Chris Hill offers a Gourmet menu as well as a slightly less elaborate Gallery menu, both taking full advantage of the fresh produce Cumbria is famous for.
From the picture windows of the restaurant, lounge and Griffin Bar area the lake vista is on full display and it is hard to draw your attention away from it. In winter a fire burns cheerily in the lounge's beautiful antique fireplace adding further to the friendly and ambient atmosphere of the hotel.
The Griffin Bar is named after one Harry Griffin, a reknowned writer of the Country Diary page of national newspaper The Guardian for over 50 years. Much of his memorabilia is on display in the bar area.
The hotel has a spacious outdoor terrace for enjoying lunch, a snack, morning coffee or a Cumbrian Cream Tea. Facilities The hotel has a spacious lounge and bar area with lots of comfortable seating and an indoor pool with sauna. There is ample parking available. Location The Beech Hill is located just outside the town of Bowness-on-Windermere in a peaceful location and many Lake District attractions like the Beatrix Potter museum, The Pencil Museum and outdoor themepark of Rheged are all easily accessible by car.
Many people come to the area to enjoy the walking and there are plenty of walks to enjoy around the hotel. If the water is preferred, then Lake Cruises can be taken from Bowness. The towns of Grasmere (Wordsworth fame), Kendal and Cartmel are all within easy driving distance.
Aside from the many attractions and walking, the area is also quite a shoppers' paradise with kitchenware paradise Lakeland, outdoor clothing supremo Hawkshead and the Cartmel Shop, with its world famous Sticky Toffee Puddings, all worth a visit.
