| Hotel Description The Idle Rocks sits on the edge of the harbour wall in the quaint fishing village of St Mawes, on the tip of the Roseland Peninsular, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The view from the hotel is the Cornish dream brought to life: a small, idyllic harbour, narrow lanes of tidy fisherman's cottages, green fields that slope down to the sea and sandy beaches. It's location on the southern coast of the UK's mildest county, where daffodils begin to bloom in January, makes the Idle Rocks an destination to visit all year around.
Aside from its enviable location the hotel is a magnet for discerning diners, attracted by its reputation for superb cuisine, as well as those simply seeking to relax in its friendly ambient and comfortable accommodation. The terrace is simply the best place around to sit and watch life on the water of this bustling harbour in summer. In winter, the theatre of water on display (compliments of Mother Nature), provides a natural symphony of water entertainment.
The hotel is reknowned for its personal and friendly service.
Luxury Hotel Accommodation The hotel has 6 Premier Balconette rooms, luxuriously furnished, offering superb views out over the water to St Anthony's Head and beyond. A further 6 Premier bedrooms have equally wonderful views and you are so close to the water that at high tide you can jump straight into the sea - though we don't encourage it!! There are also a number of Select bedrooms with harbour and village views furnished with 4-poster beds that are located in a pretty Georgian satellite buildings and each has a wrought iron balcony accessed via french windows. There are also Select seaview rooms in the main building of the hotel.
The Water's Edge restaurant offers goumet dining at the highest level and Chef Daminan Broom, who shuns any limelight as he wants his food to do the talking, takes full advantage of the wonderful fresh Cornish produce available, much of which is organic. There is a fabulous view of the water from every table.
The terrace of the hotel is simply a wonderful place to sit, relax and enjoy lunch, a Cornish Cream Tea or just a drink as you watch the world go by on the water. Facilities The hotel has a comfortable lounge area and separate bar area. The hotel has limited parking that needs to be booked in advance. Location Whilst situated at the tip of the Roseland Peninsula, St Mawes is still easily accessible for visiting many of Cornwall's key attractions. In the village itself sits St Mawes Castle, steeped in history, the lush gardens of Lamorran and a pleasant stroll round the coast will take you to the hamlet of St Just, with its ancient parish church. A foot ferry from the harbour will take you across to the port of Falmouth and numerous water taxis transport you across to St Anthony's headland or up the Helford river. A short drive away across the King Harry Ferry (acclaimed as the UK's most attractive ferry ride) you can visit Trelissick Gardens and carry on into the county capital of Truro. The exotic gardens of Trebah are also within easy driving distance as is the famous Eden Project and the hotel does offer Eden breaks.
