Hotel Description
Open since August 2005, The Island Hideaway at Dhonakulhi sits on its own 1.4 kilometre long, crescent-shaped island, complete with lush green vegetation, long white beaches and an adjacent house reef. Whilst the resort offers 43 spacious, private luxury villas and whole range of first-class facilities, majority of the island has still been left in its pristine natural state! A rustic celebration of nature... Dhonakulhi Island, with a beach length of some 3,200 meters around the Island, is a haven of peace, tranquility and serenity. The crystal clear turquoise waters of the shallow waist-deep lagoon surrounding the island stretch as far as the eye can see. The Island's uniquely rich and dense vegetation instill a feeling of harmony and being at one with nature. Guests can choose to arrive at The Island Hideaway either by a 45-minute scenic photo-flight from the international airport at Male', the capital of the Maldives, or guests may also fly-in on seaplanes or private jets, or cruise their yachts to the Island's fully-equipped world class marina.

I have just been for two weeks to Island Hideaway, Dhonakulhi, Maldives in August 06. It was truly an amazing paradise! The resort is a 1.4 km long island but with just 43 spacious villas! Absolutely green and natural!! So much of privacy and natural island beauty. We arrived late in the night and the next morning, we just could not believe our eyes when we saw the beautiful lagoon, fantastic white beaches all around and the greenery. Additionally, every villa has its own private butler. We really felt like a King and Queen. Every single detail was looked into and our butler - Shanu would do anything for us, including meeting us after our snorkeling with a glass of ice coffee, specially for us!! WOW!! The food is brilliant too. Indian, Japanese, Thai and some Maldivian stuff too , over and above the fine dining that is available. Overall, a fantastic experience which we will never forget. Truly, as the slogan for the resort goes, " A true celebration of nature...". We are going back in March 2007. Cant wait to get back!!! Love Richard
