Hotel Description
"It is the most beautiful place in the world"
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill writing to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, urging him to come to Marrakech at the close of World War II's Casablanca Conference, 1943.

Opened in 1923 and located in the very heart of Marrakech, La Mamounia is set amid idyllic gardens that are almost three hundred years old and surrounded by the city's 12th century ochre-colored ramparts.

For 80 years, La Mamounia has emphasized the great traditions of Moroccan hospitality. We are considered a classic example of the great age of grand hotels of the 1930's, a unique blend of Art Deco and Moorish design.

Conceived in 1922 with one hundred rooms, La Mamounia was enlarged in 1946, 1950 and 1953. In 1986 we undertook a massive, nine-month re-creation, bringing us to today's level of magnificence. In 2000 and 2001, every guest room was updated and redesigned - combining a true Moroccan ambiance with every 21st-century convenience.

La Mamounia's name derives from our gardens, known three centuries ago as "Arset el Mamoun," named for Prince Moulay Mamoun, son of Sultan Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, ruler of Marrakech in the 18th century.

Here in the heart of this Imperial city, royalty, connoisseurs and celebrities gather at the legend called "La Mamounia" to relax in an atmosphere that combines history with enchantment and luxury.

Suite Ambassadeur

Moroccan Suites - a dream to behold:
Entering each of our four 750 square-foot apartments becomes a discovery of Moroccan tradition and craftsmanship. From the lushness of the fabrics, to the intricate designs of the glazed tiles, to the ceilings of bas-relief stucco, each suite is created with exquisite taste, the finest materials and the ultimate attention to detail. Each Moroccan Suite represents the sublime marriage of the exotic with the 21st century.
Everything is classic - from the Moroccan-style interior, to the 120 square-foot patio with fountain. Furnishings are from the very same Moroccan lemon wood chosen by French Royalty.
The door to the suite opens into a lobby and mirrored dressing area. A small corridor with its own fountain leads to a salon with desk, and on into a dining room with mirrored sideboard. This in turn leads to a Moroccan sitting room separated by a curtain from the bedroom whose full-size bed appears as if floating atop a tiled throne. The bathroom has a private Jacuzzi.

Villas:
The villas are attached to the main building by 300 meters of underground corridors for villa services purposes.

The villas also have their own entrance, a wooden gate through the high ramparts with each villa having an area for private parking. Small private gardens with Jacuzzis also feature. Each villa has three bedrooms all en-suite bathrooms, a sitting room with dining area, a kitchenette and a staff kitchen to ensure 24-hour service.
