Hotel Description
The Fairlawns is a very unique, exclusive, up-market sanctuary for today’s traveler, be that business or leisure.

Conveniently situated in the Sandton suburb of Morningside Manor, Fairlawns is an award-winning boutique hotel boasting a total of 40 highly individualized, world-class Suites The conference centre, a large fully equipped gym, Balinese Spa and an excellent a la carte restaurant are available to ensure a full range of services are on offer. Once the private home of the current live-in owners, John and Anna Thacker, the property was originally bought from the Little Brenthurst Trust of Oppenheimer fame, and consisted of 10 acres with horses and stables and rolling green lawns . Portions of the property have been sold off, but it has retained its stately, park-like ambience with huge mature trees and prolific bird-life.

This well-kept secret is the perfect balance between tranquility and proximity to the thriving business centres of Sandton, Woodmead, Sunninghill and Rivonia, between professionalism and the warm, welcoming ambience created by friendly and caring staff. Elegant enough to host European royalty, relaxed enough for one visitor to comment "a home away from home, only better". We strive to match the beauty of our surroundings with personalized service and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Luxury Hotel Accommodation
The suites at the Fairlawns comprise of some of the most opulent and distinctive suites in South Africa. Each is individually designed, both architecturally and decoratively, a Suite for every taste. All have large windows overlooking some aspect of the landscaped garden, individually controlled air-conditioning, in-room bars, wireless and broadband internet connectivity, international adaptors, DVDs and flat screen TVs, to ensure comfort and global communication.

There are 12 Courtyard suites (Classic suites), 6 Villa suites (Superior suites), 20 Grande Chateau suites (Classic suites) and a 240m2 Presidential Residence which comprises 3 ensuite bedrooms, walk-in dressing room, steam and double showers, sitting and dining rooms, study, kitchenette and guest cloakroom, as well as a private entrance for those wanting privacy and anonymity.
Facilities
The dining experience at Fairlawns is as varied as the selection of Suite Styles. We cater to a variety of Clientele, from our local Guests, who often choose our Restaurant to celebrate special events such as anniversaries, popping the question or special birthdays, to our long-staying or often repeating Resident Guest. The needs of these two groups are often not the same, and we therefore cater to both by offering a fine dining a la carte menu, but also being flexible enough to make dishes for our regular Guests when requested to do so. We fully understand that world travel may appear glamorous to those that don’t have to do it, but to the businessman that gives his address as “…..Seat 26A….” it is a hard and demanding lifestyle. The occasional ‘home-style’ meal is often very welcome and we go the extra mile to provide the comforts of home to our Guests, even if that means simply wanting ‘baked beans on toast please…’

Our Breakfast Buffet is laden with among other things, fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses, cold cuts and smoked salmon. Although this buffet is generally cleared by 10h30 during the week and 11h00 on weekends, there is actually no time limit by which Resident Guests have to order breakfast. The delight of sleeping in should not conflict with missing a wonderful breakfast, especially our South African Breakfast with the national Boerewors (Farmer’s Sausage), lamb chops, mushrooms, tomatoes and eggs.

Sundowners on the Terrace, Afternoon Tea, High Tea or a light lunch – Fairlawns is the perfect place, far from the maddening crowd, yet a stone’s throw from everything.

The recently extended Terrace restaurant can now seat up to 55 guests and now includes a large reconstituted sandstone fire place which is perfect for the winter months and setting a romantic mood for dinners.
