Hotel Description
Chateau de Bagnols is France's finest five-star deluxe chateau-hotel, discovered by Lady Hamlyn in 1987. With much energy and vision she painstakingly restored the chateau to its former glory and in October 2003 she appointed Rocco Forte Hotels to manage and market the chateau on her behalf.

Dating from the 13th century, the Chateau de Bagnols is set among vineyards, forests and green hills in the heart of the Beaujolais countryside in south-east France, just 12 miles from Lyon. Lyon has an international airport, and a train from Paris or Geneva takes only two hours and the ski slopes of the Alps are a 90-minute drive away.

With its towers, moat, honey-coloured stone known as pierres dorees and entrance across a drawbridge, Chateau de Bagnols is one of France's major historic monuments and a unique luxury hotel. The 20 hotel's rooms and suites have been painstakingly restored, revealing wall paintings created during the chteau's finest period when nearby Lyon was one of Europe's great Renaissance cities.

The Salle des Gardes restaurant offers a tempting selection of regional specialities as well as a vast selection of Beaujolais wines while outside, the sun-facing terrace, shaded by 100-year-old lime trees, provides the most spectacular view of the Beaujolais countryside.

Chateau de Bagnols offers both the experience of being a cherished guest in historic, luxurious and relaxing surroundings as well as an alternative venue from Lyon to hold conferences and product launches of the most select and exclusive nature.
Luxury Hotel Accommodation
The 21 bedrooms, which include eight apartments (six in the chateau itself and two in the Residence), bear the names of those who have contributed to the chateau's distinguished past: the Chambre des Seigneurs d'Oingt, the Suite des Seigneurs de Balzac, the Chambre de Madame de Sovigne and the Claude Marie Chavanais Suite.

Many are decorated with remarkable wall paintings, which date back through the centuries. The rooms, all with private bathrooms, have been furnished with exceptional care: with soft velvets and shimmering silks and with rare and beautiful antiques; they also possess the very latest telecommunications system.
