Hotel Description
It was in 1900 that Baroness Jeanne de Rothschild decided to have the château de Montvillargenne built. She offered the project to Chatenay, one of the architects trained at the renowned School of Fine Arts set up by Honoré Daunet (the famous architect of the Château of Chantilly).

The château de Montvillargenne is a bit disconcerting for classicism lovers. The impact of regional and foreign styles on its architecture can be easily noticed through Norman half-timbering, Württemberg roofing and Béarn balcony style...

During the Second World War, the château was occupied by German troops. In 1945, the nuns of the Sacred Heart holy order transform the Château into a noviciate and a boarding school for young women. When the noviciate closed down in 1969, the château became a hotel school, and in 1985 the château de Montvillargenne finds its bearings in traditional gastronomic catering and hotel industry.

The entirely refurbished Château was awarded its 4th star in October 2003.
