In the 15th century it was a monastery, today it is one of Europe’s most fascinating hotels.

The finest resort from which to appreciate the city of the Medicis via the comfortable complimentary shuttle that every 20 minutes and in just 15 minutes links the Villa to the shop windows, the art, the museums. The attentive Concierge can arrange tours of villas, palaces and even secret gardens or excursions to wineries in the countryside for truly memorable days.

Dining at the Loggia Terrace will be one of the most romantic experiences of your entire trip. Don’t leave without learning the secrets of Italian cuisine at the Cookery School, where hands-on lessons are taught by famous Chefs.

Tastefully appointed with walnut or cherry custom-made furniture, each of these rooms features king, queen or twin beds. A number of our Double Classic Rooms look onto the intimate cloister which accommodates the bar, discreetly visible through the glass roof, or at the soaring cypress trees intertwined with creeping roses and wisteria. With restored original touches, each room weaves romance and history into wonderful ambient surroundings within this grand building.

Double Superior at Villa San Michele Recently renovated to a high standard, these rooms are located in the main building.
Very spacious, they overlook either the courtyard or the countryside. Handmade parchment lampshades, carpets in sober colours, curtains of the finest cotton and upholstery in elegant symbiosis, with the colour schemes dominated by warm pastels. Each room has a large marble bathroom and separate shower.

Junior Suite Superior at Villa San Michele Their character, exceptional furnishings, spaciousness and elegant charm, combined with their secluded gardens and views on the Arno Valley, distinguish these Junior Suites. Tall and elegantly trimmed laurel hedges secure the total privacy of each garden. The lawn garden and paved terrace are comfortably equipped with armchairs and elbow rest chairs and slate-covered table. Bathrooms are spacious, in royal Carrara marble, cotto floor and double vanities.

Donatello Suite at Villa San Michele
Once the Prior's quarters, the Donatello Suite occupies the whole corner of the monastery, with windows overlooking Florence and the Arno Valley and the peaceful sight of the Italian Garden and park - a pole position still today. A spacious, sunlit sitting room featuring a corner fireplace of exquisite craftsmanship leads into a large, well-appointed bedroom with king size bed, breakfast table and elbow rest chairs. A 16th-century buffet with drawers is available for clients' clothes.

Michelangelo Suite at Villa San Michele Inundated by daylight from sunrise to sunset, the Michelangelo Suite stretches the whole length of the façade. Once the monastery library, it became Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte's headquarters in Florence. Today the huge, canopied, king-size bed and the exquisite decorations remain fit for an emperor. By far the Villa's largest and most romantic accommodation, the undivided sleeping and sitting areas stretch behind the whole length of the façade with windows dominating Florence, the Arno Valley and the Chianti Hills. A large fireplace dominates one of the walls, its stone mantelpiece a glory of carved craftsmanship. The bathroom contains a pool-like bathtub, a delight to see and enjoy, and features separate shower and the finest and softest linen and towels.

Limonaia Suite at Villa San MicheleUnique. The Limonaia Suite is the most dramatic in the hotel. Located in the 17th century 'Limonaia' (the former orangerie of the convent), a separate building in the hotels’ Italian gardens, the suite enjoys a prime location with breathtaking view over Florence and the surrounding hills. This historic apartment can be connected on request to a second suite, linked by a staircase, complete with enlarged bathrooms and wardrobes. Beautifully decorated in Tuscan Renaissance
style, the panoramic rooms enjoy breathtaking views over the city. The Limonaia suite is also connected to a third suite via the garden creating a kind of “private villa in the Villa”, a unique haven that’s ideal for families, groups of friends, or for a special occasion such as a wedding or exclusive party. What’s more, the Limonaia’s private garden now has its own heated plunge pool, made from stone, and a small waterfall that blends in perfectly with the leafy surroundings.
