Hotel Description
A timeless classic, The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, has been called home by leaders in world affairs, business, society, entertainment and the arts since its debut in 1930. Brilliantly positioned on Madison Avenue, it is a true New York landmark - a showcase of great art, a purveyor of privacy and a sanctuary of refined taste. Guests feel truly ensconced in an elegant private residential atmosphere, which includes a discreet and polished staff as well as world-class dining and entertainment
Luxury Hotel Accommodation
With just 179 rooms and suites distributed among the hotel's 60 residential apartments, The Carlyle offers the exclusive ambiance of an Upper East Side pied--terre. All feature fabrics, artwork and appointments of a quality typically found only in the most luxurious of homes.

The late great Mark Hampton decorated each room at The Carlyle individually. He also designed the armchairs found in each room, which are named after his daughter Alexa.

ROOMS
Furnished in classic Louis the XVI style with color schemes ranging from Chinese red to celadon, the hotel's 122 guest rooms showcase the distinctive aristocratic style of the designer Mark Hampton. Audubon prints, architectural renderings by Piranesi and English country scenes by Kips adorn the walls. Porcelain lamps and vases, as well as china ashtrays designed exclusively for The Carlyle by Limoges, add a refined touch. Bathrooms are finished in marble, many with whirlpool tubs. Beds are made with 440-thread-count, custom designed Rivolta Carmignani sheets and monogramed Carlyle duvet covers.

SUITES
Ranging in size from 650 to 1800 square feet, the hotel's 57 suites are individually decorated in the same genteel Anglo-English style as the guest rooms. Each offers ample living space to relax and entertain. In keeping with the hotel's musical heritage, 23 suites feature Steinway or Baldwin baby-grand pianos, which are tuned twice a week.

THE CARLYLE'S NEW ROYAL SUITE
This legendary New York suite has been completely refurbished and infused with freshness and modernity, yet it still conjures the intimate feel of a private residence. A space of grand proportions and fabulous history, the Royal Suite is an example of urbane luxury combined with intimacy of design. Set on the 22nd floor, the duplex suite boasts extensive spaces including two full bedrooms and baths, a sizable dining room and kitchen and an expansive traditional living room with lofty ceilings and two-story views of the Manhattan skyline. An impressive fireplace with faux quartz logs towers the living room, adding to the drama and the modernization of the suite, while resonating with the hotel's renowned Thierry Despont-designed lobby. Royal Suite guests can admire the antique books, sunburst clocks and Lars Bolanger lacquered boxes. The living room includes a sage velvet seating group at the fireplace, an elegant English secretary, comfortable armchairs by the windows, an expansive desk and finally - for the occasional musician in residence - a Steinway piano. Wall-mounted plasma -screen TVs and state-of-the-art acoustics are also present.
