Hotel Description
Imagine a place where the Comanche Indians once roamed, Pancho Villa led raids across the Rio Grande, cowboys sat around an open campfire, and miners drank whisky at the Trading Post; all among dramatic Chisos mountain vistas and the borderland majesty of the Rio Grande River.

Tucked away in West Texas between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park lies this exquisite, 25,000-acre private estate where a cast of infamous characters made history and the Old West inspires the rugged luxury of Texas' first destination resort. As Architectural Digest claims, Lajitas "has been transformed into a luxury destination whose guests can enjoythe same breath taking scenery that persuaded Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1935 to sign Public Law 157, authorizing the creation of Big Bend National Park."

Black Jack’s Crossing Golf Course – Review Open July 4, 2010 – Grand Opening September 2010.
This semi-private, stunningly unique 18-hole championship and 9-hole Executive length golf course has challenging fairways set against a rugged backdrop. Golfers won't know whether to look at the greenery or the scenery. It is a BIG course worthy of the Big Bend. With seven breathtaking mountain holes and one spectacular desert mountain vista after another, the course itself is a literal work of art. “Some of these tee shots, you just go, ‘Wow!’” says course designer Lanny Wadkins, former CBS golf commentator and PGA Tour Star and recent Hall of Fame inductee states “ on hole four, it’s ‘Holy smokes.’ Then five is better than four and six is better than five, and it just keeps going.”
The course is named after U.S. Army General ‘Black Jack’ Pershing and the old Lajitas Trading Post (ca. 1800s) has been repurposed into the Pro shop and Longhorn Museum. Our P.G.A. professional golf staff will assist you in choosing from our selection of clothing and gifts to remember your round of golf. Dining
Two excellent restaurants are located at Lajitas. Elegant casual dining (breakfast lunch and dinner) can be had in the Candelilla Café, a charming eatery overlooking the Black Jack’s Crossing golf course and the mountains surrounding it. Enjoy some of the regional offerings like Lajitas fajitas Grilled Quail, Aged Porterhouse steaks or Tijuana Caesar Salad. Similar offerings can be had in the Thirsty Goat Saloon, adjacent to the Candelilla. Angus beef is prime here. Choose a table outside to enjoy the romantic breezes, birdsong and moonlight, and outdoor firepits. All meals have some terrific local fare. Don’t forget to ask about the Legendary Clay Henry III, the beer drinking goat and ex-mayor of Lajitas who, due to obvious health reason, retired in 2008.
Agave Spa
Aromatic and healing elements of the Chihuahuan Desert are the foundation for the spa treatments—from specialty massage and skin treatments to hydrating facials. Designed to nourish both the body and soul, most treatments include native extracts including Agave, Rio Grande mud and stones from the Big Bend area. With three massage rooms and a facial room, the spa offers a wide range of treatments in an intimate and soothing environment.
